Description
“My soul waits…”
after listening to Bach, 2020 (8′)
for flute, clarinet, piano and string trio
„‘My Soul Waits…,‘ After Listening to Bach“ was a commission of the „Muzikos ruduo“ festival in Lithuania, written during the first COVID-19 pandemic wave of 2020.
Fortunately, many concerts were available online. Intuitively, I sought out concerts featuring Bach‘s music from the Thomaskirche, and I remained connected to this music for a while. Especially often I listened to the aria „Meine Seele wartet“ from the cantata No. 131 „Aus der Tiefe rufe ich“. My mind was obsessed with this music and when the commission came, I knew immediately that I would use this aria.
