There are virtuoso first and last movements in this trio, expressive cantilena (andante) and charming scherzo in between, attributes which are distinctive about Farrenc’s chamber- and orchestral compositions located near to the classical model. In addition to the excellent fracture of the composition Robert Schumann pointed out “an amiable overall soft romantic odour”.
“Luise Farrenc has a lovely feel for the tone quality of the instruments, and the whole os meledious and mellow. Also, her unique harmonic language is evident here with some intriguing and surprising chord changes.” Diana Ambache in: Harpsichord and Fortepiano Vol 16 Nr. 1, 2011
