Parting at Yang Kuan (Chinese: Sun Pass) reflects on the Ming Dynasty, the last dynasty in
China ruled by Chinese, a time of rapid changes of rulers, internal rebellion, wars at the frontier,
naval expeditions, Manchus invasion and conquest. Musicially, this work serves as a gate,
many musicial ideas and material of the seven previous works are re-examined and renewed
in a new sound world.
