About the work
Le Beau wrote several large-scale orchestral works, beginning with the Concert Overture for Large Orchestra, op. 23, in 1878, followed by the Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra, op. 25, (1881), the Concerto for Piano with Orchestra Accompaniment, op. 37, in D minor (1887/88), the Symphony, op. 41 (1894), and „Hohenbaden,“ Symphonic Poem for Orchestra, op. 43, composed from 1896 to 1897, as well as oratorio works and an opera.
The first performance of the symphony took place with great success in Baden-Baden on March 29, 1895. The manuscript is in the music department of the Berlin State Library under the call number Mus. ms. autogr. Le Beau, L A 1M.
