‚The poems by Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger are very moving and every line of a verse holds on its specific sad or tired or hopeful mood. Because of this fact I decided to compose the songs following the verse-structure. Most of the melodies use a wide range of tone (Mezzo-soprano). The piano accompaniment (easy to medium difficulty) adapts the expression of the melodies.‘ (F. Kukuck) Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger, a Rumenian of jewish origin, started to write poems at the age of 15. When she was 17 she was deported to the working-camp Michailows-kaja which was led by the German SS. There she died at the age of 18.
