The composition Wind in the Neckar valley for percussion and piano is a picture (a drawing) in three movements. The wind blows along the Neckar, moves the trees and bushes along the river, throwing ripples and waves on the water, rings the church bells on the shore, howls in the alleys of the neighbouring towns, rattles the shutters of the houses. As to the form, there is initially a leitmotif, which is repeated several times with variations. The piano is preparative. The big gong drums and the singing saw has an important role in the percussion.
