The „Hörbilder“ (Sound Pictures) was edited by Irith Gabriely, who has arranged all of the pieces with rich musical diversity. Individual pieces can be played separately or easily combined into small groups for recitals, concerts, contests and as interludes between readings or as an acoustic contribution to an exhibition.

The very creative collaboration with Barbara Heller and her method of composition for various instruments has inspired me to publish Sound Pictures (Hör-Bilder) not only for my main instrument, the clarinet, but also for the saxophone. As a relatively young instrument, popular and sought after mainly in jazz, the saxophone has also found its place in the last decades among the „usual“ classical instruments and is highly appreciated in the “E-music” scene not only by insiders, as are all other string or wind instruments of chamber or orchestral music, but also by the wider public. The saxophone has a wide expressive capacity and great range of dynamics. Therefore, it is perfectly suitable as a solo instrument without any accompaniment. These sound pictures by Barbara Heller are wonderfully suitable for open-air events, openings of exhibitions and commemorative events. There is a wide range of moods to choose from: whether a cheerful fanfare announcing the beginning of spring or a melancholic piece in memory of dramatic moments in life.
