The members of the German Music Council appointed Renate Matthei as an honorary member at the 2021 general meeting. Renate Matthei and her “Furore-Verlag” campaign for the publication of sheet music and books by female composers. The laudation for Renate Matthei was given by the composer Dr. Charlotte Seither.

With the honorary membership in the German Music Council, which is awarded regularly by the DMR General Assembly, personalities are honored who have made a special contribution to musical life. There are currently 48 honorary members of the German Music Council. The badge of honor was introduced as an award in 2015 and is awarded by the Presidium.
