New: Mel Bonis: Sacred Vocal Works in 5 Volumes

2024-06-10T11:16:59+02:0010. June 2024|Current Posts, Press|

The sacred music of Mel Bonis (1858–1937) or elevation through music Mel Bonis, pseudonym for Mélanie Bonis (1858–1937), was one of the few French composers of her time who left posterity an extensive musical work. The Parisian from a modest middle-class background attended the conservatory in the same classes as Debussy and Pierné. Her teachers, Ernest Guiraud and Louis Auguste Bazille in the harmony, piano accompaniment and composition classes, praised her highly. She attended César Franck’s organ lessons as a guest student. “She was so good at Gregorian chant that she was presented as an example to foreign students who sometimes attended the lessons.” A complete edition of Mel Bonis’s sacred music has now been published in five volumes by Furore Verlag: motets for four-part mixed choir, motets for two- and three-part choir, mass, Cantique de Jean Racine, sacred and Christmas songs.

Vol. 1: Motets for Choir (SATB)
O salutaris, op. 131, Adoro te, op. 150-1, Inviolata, op. 163, Ave verum, op. 166-1, Tantum ergo, op. 167

Vol. 2: Motetten für 2- oder 3-st. Chor
Regina cœli,  op. 45, Sub tuum,  op. 132, Salve Regina,  op. 169, Panis angelicus,  op. 145, Ave …

“A useful addition to the flute’s Romantic repertoire”: Emilie Mayer: Sonate D major for flute and piano

PAN. Magazine of the British Flute society

Emilie Mayer: Sonate for flute and piano

“Composed in Romantic style, there is a clear influence of Beethoven in the
writing, and the piano part features rich chords and textual variation.
The score and part are well presented with careful placement
of page turns. This is a useful addition to the flute’s Romantic
repertoire, which would be ideal for students making their first
steps into relatively large-scale works from this era.”

Carmen Maria Cârneci: Origami with Blackbirds (2014/16)
Following the pattern of the song of a black bird, the third piece of the Origami cycle was composed as a continuous melody that carries characteristics such as motif and rhythmic inventiveness within the framework of an elastic tempo that allows the player a certain freedom. Made, remade, tied, untied, the many angled and asymmetrical origami-like folds create a constantly reinvented, expository music with a merely tranquil sound driven here and there by dynamic episodes. Particular attention has been paid to timbre/instrumental colors and effects, which in this piece are considered both a feature of contemporary music and a …

Diabelli recomposed at the Music Café at the Leipzig Book Fair with Claudia Bigos and Antonia Krödel

2024-01-31T12:02:08+01:0030. January 2024|Current Posts|

On March 21, 2024 at 1 p.m., Furore Verlag cordially invites you to a presentation with music for “Diabelli Recomposed” in the Music Café at the Leipzig Book Fair.
Musicologist and editor Claudia Bigos and music editor Antonia Krödel will present the outstanding volume of sheet music for the “Diabelli Recomposed” project, which has been published by Furore Verlag – “a great success”, according to the nmz.
The volume not only contains a rich collection of piano variations, but also an informative foreword and interesting details about the composers and their works.
The presentation offers a deep insight into this remarkable project and its genesis.
200 years ago, Anton Diabelli asked 50 composers to each write a variation on a waltz theme he had written – not a single female composer was among the composers. To mark the anniversary, musicologist Claudia Bigos came up with the idea for “Diabelli Recomposed”. She asked women composers from around the world to write their own variation on the Diabelli waltz theme in their own style. The impressive sheet music edition has now been published on high-quality paper and in a hardcover by Furore Verlag.
The exclusive sheet music edition is available  under the edition number fue …
