Dear Fanny, dear Felix! Conversation in tones "Music may become a profession for him, while for you it can and should only be an adornment, never the basic bass of your work" Far from it, dear Abraham Mendelssohn! For not only his son Felix was to celebrate great successes as a composer, but his no less talented daughter Fanny also proved to be a match for her brother. In honor of the 175th anniversary of the deaths of Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn, the Mendelssohn orchestra family of The Young ClassX is dedicated to the extraordinary work of the two Hamburg-born siblings. Accompanied by staged readings of the lively correspondence between Fanny Hensel (née Mendelssohn) and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, the three youth orchestras play their way through the composers' oeuvre. The Camerata21-Trio (Barbara Hesse-Bachmaier - mezzo-soprano, Monika Olszak - flute & saxophone and pianist Mirjam von Kirschten) Presents a program of contrasts: in original compositions such as Hexenküche, Hexentanz, Satansgelächter, Phantom, Mephistolieder, the three musicians play poles that extend from delicate to intense, from conflictual to conciliatory, from harmonic to dissonant, from simple to virtuosic. Some of the pieces were composed especially for the ensemble. Played will be works by: Mel Bonis (1858-1937), Gloria Coates (*1938), Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944), Rebecca Clarke (1886-1979), Robert Delanoff (*1942), Dorothee Eberhardt (*1952), Elena Firsova (+1950), Dorothea Hofmann (b. 1961), Narine Khachatryan (b. 1979), Ljubica Maric (1909-2003), Vivienne Olive (b. 1950), Clara Schumann (1819-1896), and Elke Tober-Vogt (b. 1957). The program is supported by a grant from the German Music Council.
