Sound Research of Women Composers: Contemporary Music (C 333)

The Coventry Carol, Lullay Lulla, is an English Christmas carol dating from the 16th century.
It describes the lament of the women of Bethlehem when the children were murdered. Vivienne Olive has depicted the gentle as well as brutal Christmas story in a short fantasy for alto saxophone solo. At the end the original song is played – either by saxophone quartet.
