»Advent meditation on the chorale ›How beautiful the morning star shines‹« for violin, cello and harpsichord was commissioned by the Theater Lübeck for the 1st Klangbilder (sound images) concert 2021. The concert was dedicated to Dieterich Buxtehude’s collection of instruments. Works by Dieterich Buxtehude, Georg Friedrich Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach and Diana Cemeryte were performed. As dramaturge Christian Münch-Cordellier wrote in the concert program: „Both Bach and Buxtehude have in their works z. T. repeatedly occupied with the well-known chorale »How beautiful the morning star shines« by Philipp Nicolai. The Lithuanian composer Diana Cemeryte, who lives near Frankfurt am Main, also worked on this chorale specifically for this sound image concert. Her brand new work will be premiered at this concert and brings a contemporary view of this timelessly beautiful chorale: »Force the strings in cythara and let the sweet music ring joyfully«.
