The jury described the work as follows: “In her work ‘Bric à brac’, after a fanfare-like beginning, the composer Aude Clesse, who was born in France in 1980, takes us on a diverting journey through a shoe box filled with musical memories. There is something different to be discovered in every corner. Whenever one thinks one recognises standard musical phrases,
the composer surprises us with new directions and destinations. ‘Bric à brac’ is certainly not only “odds and ends”, but a treasure chest full of musical jewels that are well worth being heard and played!”
„I believe that a piece of music for brass quintet must be joyfull, sparkling and varied. That’s why I have made this bric à brac a patchwork of happiness, a good mood rhapsody. Have fun!“
