Matilde Capuis composed works for orchestra with a great preference for string instruments. After a slow introduction, two violins are in dialogue in their solo-phrase. The string orchestra continues with this dialogue. The music ends as it began, with a peaceful Lento.
The Italian composer wrote works for orchestra and choir, many songs and a lot of chamber music with a great preference for the human voice and string instruments. She was awarded various composition
prizes such as the “Premio Quartetto Veneziano”, the “Premio Circolo Universitario” and the “Concorso
International de Compositoras H. Rubinstein” Buenos Aires.
In 1969, she was offered a professorship for composition and music theory at the Verdi Conservatory
in Turino. There she taught up her emeritus status in 1983.
