These little pieces are written in large notes and have appealing titles: “Great Sorrow”, “Congratulations for Grandmother”, “Raindrops”, which both motivate the children and ensure progress. They accompany their development in the first two years, with each piece focusing on a new learning experience. The collection is the greatest publishing success during Mel Bonis’ lifetime.
At the time of the album‘s initial release, Mel Bonis received letters of praise, such as this one from Marcelle Cheridjan, a Swiss concert pianist:
