“OMENS – capriccio” for clarinet is a piece of virtuosity that should be listen to as an invocation of the Self as part of the large respiration of Nature… Omens means prophetic signs transmitting a miraculous message, a meaning engraved in nature and life events that we should observe and decipher… Julio Castaneda uses it in his books. “Listening to the World” signifies in this particular case to listen to the surrounding nature that offers you – through sonorous signs of attention – a very subtle correction of one’s life trajectory.

Searching the omens the player follows a labyrinth-like pathway – describing a melodical ‘initiation travel’ that is articulated in five inequal sequences firmly delimitated by silence… The different plans expressing at least three poliphonic voices hidden in the final melody are put in correspondence with a very accurate disposition of dynamics: the multitude of details enlaced in an alert and highly complex rhythm gives birth to a vivid, ever changing material. This demands from the player an increased attention to the extent where it seems to be a ‘normal state of mind’…
