Olga Magidenko studied at Moscow Conservatory piano with Lew Wlasenko and composition with Aram Chatchaturjan, and passed both exams with distinction.
1980 she won the composition competition of the former Soviet republics with her examination paper, her first symphony Ostinato. In 1990, she worked as a composer “Artist in Residence” of the Stetson University
Deland, Florida. She received several scholarships from the Kulturstiftung Rhein-Neckar-Kreis e. V. and also the Margarethen Stiftung (Berlin), recently in 2009. She took part in numerous international music festivals and was awarded to the Heidelberger
Künstlerinnenpreis in 2002. Working as a pianist, she played classical and contemporary repertoires touring Russia, White Russia, Georgia, Poland, England
and the U.S. The oeuvre of Olga Magidenko includes various genres: operas, works for orchestra,
symphonys, chamber music, vocal works, works for piano and organ. The composer has lived in Germany since 1994, today she lives in Heidelberg. The majority of her
works are published by the publishing house Furore Verlag.
