This edition contains Romances by Szymanowska, which show a completely unknown aspect of her lifework. The piano part is lyric, visual and declamatory. The choice of words is subtle, highly modern for Symanowska’s time.
“This sollection contains romances on French lyrics, except for one song. The sixth romance is in Italian on a text by the famous librettist Metastasio. The melodies are easy to sing and offer plenty of room for extra expression in the various couplets. The idiom is reminiscent of the French romances of that time, but the accompaniment offers more. The intermediate games and replay tell their own story. The piano part contains surprising harmonies and often has an attractive rhythmic movement. The size of the singing voice is c’-g “.” Dinant Krouwel in „De Liedvriend“
