The score is presented in modern music writing. A tablature will be available, developed by Caroline Delume, the lutenist who has created this work. Commis-sioned by French Lute Society. «F. Mulsant’s Tiento has much seduced us by using the specific timbre of the theorbo. Her work suggests a universe well beyond the limits of the instrument, but for that matter, without forcing the impossible.» (W. Hoogeverf, Les cahiers de la guitare .., No. 59, 1996). Tiento literally means grope. It is an ancient musical form, appeared in Spain in the XVIIth Century, which is based on a contrapuntal writing proceeding by imita-tions. The Tiento enables a perfect alliance of a strict form with a virtuosic composition.
