Ludmila Yurina studied piano at the State University of Music in Kiev from 1977 to 1981 and Composition at the Ukraine National Academy of Music from 1985 to 1990. In 1993 she pursued postgraduate studies in the Composition class of E. Stankovych. Ludmila Yurina has taken part in a number of workshops held by well-known contemporary composers and has taught as guest professor, for example at the Rheinsberger Academy of Music in 1999. Her works are performed around the world, often at festivals, and have won her international prizes. The composer is a founder member of the Ukrainian society “Women in Music” and is also a member of numerous other musical associations. In addition to extensive work as a teacher the pianist and composer works as musical director for a number of theatres and festivals in Kiev. Ludmila Yurina has been a professor in the Composition Department at the Ukraine National Academy of Music since 1995.
