Snezana Nesic is a Serbian composer and accordionist based in Germany. She began her musical studies in the P.I .Tschaikowsky, Kiev and completed her post-graduate studies in 2004 at the University for Music and Drama, Hannover, where she was mentored by Professor Johannes Schöllhorn (Composition) and Professor Elsbeth Moser (Accordion). Since 2005 is she univerity lecturer in musical composition and interpretation of modern musik at the Hannover University of Musik, Drama and Media, where she also directs ensemble „incontri“ and the Forum Contemporary Musik.
She was awarded to DAAD Scholarship (German Academic Exchange Service) as well as a Composer-Scholarship from the Ministry for Science and Culture, Lower Saxony in 2007 and 2012 for her opera compositions. Past composition commissions include those from the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig, Ensembles Thet, Megaphon, Scintilla Divina, Staatsoper Hannover, Trio Zéphyr and the Kammeroper Köln.
In 2009 she won the Molinari Quartet’s international Composer Competition with her String Quartet “running thoughts”. In 2011 she received 3rd Prize at the “Weimarer Frühjahrstage für Zeitgenössische Musik” for her Piano trio “The Alchemy of Blue”.As an accordion player she has won many international competitions (including the Internationaler Akkordeonwettbewerb Klingenthal and the Citta-Castelfidardo) and has received frequent invitations as a soloist with orchestras and ensembles including NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, Staatstheater Hannover, Staatstheater Braunschweig and Das Neue Ensemble.Upcoming performances with compositions by Snezana Nesoc include concerts within the „Salzburg Biennale“, the „Musik der Jahrhunderte Stuttgart“ and the „Klangwerkstatt Berlin“.
