With interest and expertise – Hessian Minister of Science and the Arts Angela Dorn visits Furore Verlag in Kassel
“Emilie Mayer’s Symphony in F minor shows originality, experimentation and independence” – in 1850, the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik enthusiastically praised the work of the Mecklenburg-born composer. Her music was already successfully performed during her lifetime. A rather rare exception, if one compares Mayer’s fate with that of other female composers of past centuries. To this day, the rousing scherzo from the aforementioned symphony does not miss its effect, inspired an interesting round of talks in Kassel as a prelude:
Angela Dorn, Hessian Minister of Science and the Arts, visited the Furore Verlag on the occasion of her summer tour in August 2022. Key question: What can politics contribute to ensuring that works by female composers are finally adequately brought to the stages and concert halls in Hesse and beyond?

For several years, the festival has been based on a strong and original concept that creates territorial social ties: the combination of Celtic instruments and harmonies with classical music! In 2022, Angang Aufgust will perform several works by Florentine Mulsant there.

Camille van Lunen on the board of directors German Composers Association: She gets started with an opera and an oratorio

2022-05-16T12:10:07+02:0016. May 2022|Current Posts, Press, press release|

(Kassel) The composer Camille van Lunen is now the second chairwoman of the German Composers’ Association (DKV) – Landesverband NRW.

About the person: Camille van Lunen was only a junior student (viola) and studied singing in the Netherlands. At some point she dared to jump back to the source: the composition that had fascinated her since childhood – after all, she didn’t have much to lose, as she remarks with a wink. International prizes and orders followed. Today she no longer sings or plays the stages of Europe, but leaves this to their protagonists and interpreters. Camille also enjoys leading master classes in improvisation and composition of vocal music. A formative experience was her time as Composer in Residence at a leading Biological Institute in Lisbon: stringency, tireless creativity and solidarity. She would also like to use these qualities, which she appreciates in scientists, in her new role at DKV.

Regarding the current works: The composer Camille van Lunen, once on the stage as Soprano, knows how to delight and touch an audience. Her works are provocative …

On the 175th anniversary of Fanny Hensel’s death: concert with illustrated talk by musica femina münchen e.V.

2022-04-27T10:23:42+02:0027. April 2022|Current Posts|

On 13.05.2022 at 20.00 in the Isarphilharmonie | Gasteig HP8 in Munich, performed by the femina musica münchen association:

A slide lecture with classical music to travel along with provides insights into the biography of the composer Fanny Hensel Mendelssohn (1805-1847), who created a huge œuvre in her short life that has only been and is being rediscovered in our time.

In her lecture, musicologist Susanne Wosnitzka (Archiv Frau und Musik) will focus on Fanny Hensel’s trip to Italy in 1839/40, which gave enormous impetus to her creativity and gave her personal freedom for the first time. Stops on her journey included Munich and Hohenschwangau Castle. Its fantastic location probably inspired her to write her Swan Song. It was in Italy that Fanny Hensel was first described as a “true composer” – by none other than the composer Charles Gounod, who admired her talent and who stayed at the Villa Medici as a scholarship holder during this period.
