Description

Concertantes Duo (9′)
for flute and percussion
Edition: fue 10178
Level of difficulty: intermediate to difficult

The piece is an arrangement of the Concertantes Duo for recorders and percussion, which was composed in 1991. The recorders are replaced by the flute and the percussions reduced to vibraphone and smaller, partly free to choose percussion instruments. In contemporary music, wind instruments are experimented upon with numerous extensions of blowing techniques involving noise effects. This results in new tonal possibilities and, in addition to the obvious contrasts, common ground shared with the percussion. In addition to precise notation, the composition also includes parts with guided and free improvisation, opening up to the personal imagination and enthusiasm of the performers.
