From the Darkness chanting – these annotations of great poetic beauty came into being when only the wick of the icon lamp threw a small flame into the darkness, while the edival monks, copyists in Serbian monasteries (from the 13th to the 16th centuries) recorded their own thoughts, desires and cares in the margins of the holy books.
