Description
Hope in the face of despair is the central theme of our adaptation of the biblical story of the Book of Job. „Schrei, Hiob, schrei!“ was written during the Corona pandemic, a time when many people suffered like Job, losing everything: family, possessions and health. Yet Job never renounces his contact with God, the „I am here“, to whom he turns in sorrow and anger. In a world full of injustice, suffering and death, Job never gives up. And God listens to him, never abandoning him as his supposed friends do.
We tell the story from Job‘s perspective, thereby offering a new look at an ancient text. Rather than asking why God permits suffering, we focus more on the hope that God‘s relationship to mankind offers; giving courage, force and inspiration.
Our sincere thanks go to Wolfgang Lepschy, theologian and linguist for his inspiring insights. The work is dedicated to Camille‘s brother Martin who passed away during the composition of „Schrei, Hiob, schrei!“ .
