Description
Preface
The Sonata for piano four hands was composed in the summer of 2023. With a duration
of 21 minutes, it is dedicated to the duo Lydia Jardon and Alexandra Matvieskaya.
Throughout the work, the sonata form is exploited, with clearly delineated themes that
are developed at length.
The work is conceived around three movements.
The first movement, lasting 7:25 minutes, is built around an expressive, impressionistic
first theme.
The second movement, which lasts 7:45 minutes, is made up of two highly expressive
themes of differing character.
The third movement, lasting 6:15 minutes, is based on an ascending mode, given in bar
2. It is based on harmonic resonances.
