Caroline von Egloffstein

Countess Caroline von Egloffstein (1789–1868) grew up in Weimar, knew Goethe from her childhood, and performed in court theater productions. She composed songs to poems by Goethe and by her sister Julie, although her compositions are largely lost or unknown. In 1815 she became lady-in-waiting to Grand Duchess Maria Paulowna, who valued her musical talents.
