Viera Janárceková studied music in Bratislava and Prague. She lived near Kassel – now in Bamberg; since 1981 she has been working as a freelance composer. From pieces that were initially traditionally oriented, she gradually developed an experimental, idiosyncratic style and corresponding spelling. Commissioned works, awards, radio broadcasts and publications show the increasing interest and recognition of Janárceková’s music.
