Composer, vocal performer and jazz singer Agnes Ponizil studied composition, jazz voice and musical theatre direction in Dresden and Vienna. Though inspired by free jazz, new music and world music, her songs stand entirely for themselves. Her works include chamber music pieces, film music, two operas and crossover projects. Many of her compositions incorporate improvisation as an intuitively created raw material or as an interactive method. In recent years, she has developed scores as musical games that form elaborate total artworks with their graphic notation. Agnes Ponizil runs the “Studio für kreatives Musizieren” (a teaching studio for creative music-making) and is choir leader of Dresden’s Freier Chor. She is the vice-chair of the Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt state organisation of the German Composers’ Association and is committed to promoting young talent. www.agnesponizil.de
