Anna Segal

The critically acclaimed composer Anna Segal belongs to a new generation of classical composers: An unusual, versatile composer in various disciplines (symphonic and chamber music, solo concertos, songs with orchestra, choir works and even chansons). Born in Ukraine, she began study­ing piano and composition at the age of 5. After graduating from music school and college with degrees in piano and musicology, she later studied composition at The Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. After immigrating to Israel, she studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and graduated in composition under Prof. Ami Maayani. Anna Segal is a member of ACUM and The Israel Composers League (ICL). She is a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship. Her works are regularly performed by many orchestras, ensembles and soloists: Berliner Symphoniker (Conductor Maestro Lior Shambadal), London Mozart Players Orches­tra, Ukraine National Philharmonic Orchestra, The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Irkutsk Philharmonic Orches­tra – among others. Other highlights include her chamber ­piece „Overtones of the Night“ that won the first prize, and was performed at the Modern Music Festival in Korea and „Cabaret Macbeth“ that was performed as part of the Experimental Art Festival in Tel Aviv and at Felicja Blumental Music Center (2011), music for the award-winning movie „Night Shift“ (Dir. Slava Lesov), music for the Cantango Berlin Ensemble, a series of especially-developed family concerts that were performed in many countries etc.
