Lanqin Yu mirrors the processes of social life in her music. Her instrumental, vocal and interdisciplinary compositions deal with the subjects of people, space and transience. Although she showed a keen interest in composition from a very early age, Lanqin Yu initially studied international financial law in Shanghai. Ludmila Yurina studied piano at the State University of Music in Kiev from 1977 to 1981 and Composition at the Ukraine National Academy of Music from 1985 to 1990. In 1993 she pursued postgraduate studies in the Composition class of E. Stankovych.
